Welcome to the first installment of "Mesmerizing Monday", a biweekly blog focused on the intersection of art, healing, & spirituality. This blog will provide insight into the multifaceted experiment that is Mesmerism: who we are, what we do, & why we do it. Since 2020 is shaping up to be an important year for us, we decided to begin this blog in preparation for the magical things to come. Think of it as a head start on our New Year's resolutions as a collective; it will provide much needed direction as we not only move into the new year, but into the new decade. We are excited to begin this journey with you.
This first post will focus on a project that we have been working on for the past few weeks. The idea was simple: to ensure our 2020 visions manifest into reality, we must first align ourselves within, & what better way to get into alignment than healing & activating our chakras. We had a few brainstorming sessions & came up with a solid blueprint; we will dedicate our focus, energy, & intentions on a different chakra each month starting December 2019. Starting a month early will give us a solid foundation & provide necessary momentum to push forth into the new decade.
As you may have guessed, we will begin with the Muladhara, or root charka. This is the first chakra according to most Hindi traditions. The healing & activation of this chakra is essential for spiritual growth. A blocked root chakra leads one to operate out of fear & scarcity, which can then develop into paranoia, delusion, doubt, greed, & a cynical outlook on life. When in proper alignment, it creates a strong sense of patience, motivation, belonging, self-love, trust, prosperity, creativity, purpose, & balance. The Muladhara is often associated with the material / physical world, our basic needs for survival (such as food, shelter, sleep, etc.), our instincts, our ancestors, & grounding.
To aid in this process of activation & alignment, or as we call it, "Raising the Root", we have created two daily affirmations, one for the morning & one before bed. The intention is to meditate on these affirmations throughout the month of December while you work to raise your root. This can be done through various activities that heal the Muladhara energy, such as:
Sitting Meditation
Physical Exercise
Connecting to the Earth (hiking, gardening, etc.)
Creative Endeavors
Being with Family
Cultivating Sexual Energy
A Disciplined Routine
We also recorded each affirmation to healing tones, which can be listened to while you do your daily meditations. If you are interested in these affirmations & recordings, please provide your email, & we will be happy to share them with you! We hope many of you will join us as we heal & empower ourselves as a collective.
Next Month, January 2020, we will focus on the Svadhishthana chakra, or sacral chakra, & continue on in the traditional way as we move up the body. But you may be asking yourself: Aren't there only 7 chakras? In most Hindi traditions, this is true; there are 7 main chakras that correspond with the main energy centers of the body. But we hear at Mesmerism like to mix things up a bit. We will be focusing on the 12 chakra system, which exists in some traditions, & what is called "The Energy Egg" as the 13th. Sounds pretty cool, huh? All of this wisdom is coming soon to a consciousness near you! But first, we must Raise the Root!
With Light, Love, & Wild Spirit,
